Biographical Info

Dr. Wah Hei Ng is an accomplished musician and composer with a prestigious academic background. Having earned a doctoral degree from the University of Missouri – Kansas City and received education at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Dr. Ng has established a remarkable international presence. His award-winning compositions have been performed in numerous countries, including Hong Kong, the United States, Finland, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Mainland China. Notably, his music has been performed by the Grammy-winning ensemble Kansas City Chorale under the direction of renowned conductor Charles Bruffy.

With over 25 years of experience as a private violin instructor, Dr Ng has an extensive teaching portfolio includes roles as a conductor at various secondary schools and as an instructor for high school music programs such as HKDSE, IB, and IGCSE. He has also taught at post-secondary institutions like School of Continuing and Professional Studies (CUHK) and Caritas Institute of Higher Education (now St. Francis University).

Dr. Ng has served as a secondary school music teacher at Diocesan Boys’ School and as Head of Performing Arts at Tai Kwong Hilary College. Some of his students continued their musical studies at prestigious conservatories or music schools such as University of Michigan, New England Conservatory, Curtis Institute, Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, etc.

In Hong Kong, Dr. Ng served as the assistant concertmaster of the HK Youth Symphony Orchestra and the leader of the second violin section at the HK Chamber Orchestra. Just before leaving Hong Kong, he had the honour of performing as one of the soloists in Vivaldi’s Four Violin Concerto with the HK Chamber Orchestra.

Dr. Ng’s teaching philosophy centres on encouragement and setting high goals for students while maintaining a compassionate and understanding approach. His lessons are well-organized with clear objectives, designed to be engaging and routine-oriented.
